About us

Hi, my name is Rusty Mayfield, I am a Viet Nam Era/ Cold War Veteran.

Also, an Honorably Retired Deputy from Harris County Sheriff’s

Office 39 years and Galveston County Sheriff’s Office 15 years,

My wife Jutta and I decided to open a Police Supply business

In September 1978. There was not a single Police Supply store

anywhere close, except for downtown Houston.

So, we purchased a small portable building and located it next to

our residence. After the word spread about our business, we were

attracting city, County and State officers. We offered items that were not supplied by their agencies. Shotguns, Handguns and Rifles, also

handcuffs and leg irons.

My wife was an R.N. and worked nights and I worked 2-10 shift down

south in a small city. Before we expected, we had to find a larger building, hopefully downtown on Main Street. As luck would have it

we found a portable building twice the size of our current location.

Also, a business owner from uptown sublet his side parking lot all

we had to do is fence it off.

We moved uptown to S. Main and in no time our business tripled.

We had Police and Sheriff customers from surrounding cities and

Counties.

We started selling Streamlight flashlights with rechargeable batteries

which propelled our business to becoming a repair shop for the

product.

Then one day a movie producer was searching for a megaphone

for a named brand Muffler commercial. Well, that was the start.

Next, he wanted a Black leather P.D. jacket with a Police helmet.

We were then listed in the Houston Film Commission’s listing for

Police Supplies for movies. Several movies later I started suppling

blank guns, blanks, police duty belts with holster. I even purchased

an old PD cruiser for 2 films.

Got a call one day, needing help in filming Rap Videos with RAP-A

LOT productions. We helped with 8 productions, filmed in Houston’s

famous 5th Ward. One video, I was the technical advisor to help them film a drug burst.  Check out YOUTUBE, Scarface Rap-a-lot.

We worked with German, Indian and Italian film crews all around the

Houston area.

We had to relocate our business just up South Main when they sold

the business we were located next to.

The building was termite damaged to the point we had to tear it down

and rebuild it from the ground up. So, we moved our portable building

behind the business on the side parking lot. We operated out of the small building for six months when the new building was completed.

We have had police customers from the Philippines, Germany, South

Africa and Guam.

Recently, we teamed up with Silencer Shop for our clientele who like

to SRB’s and Silencers. We purchased a Kiosk to help speed up the process from start to finish in procuring Class III products.

The wait time went from 12 months to 2 weeks. If we do not have it

in stock, your can shop Silencer Shop.

Apparently, we have been doing something right all these years, to

have been in business for 47 years. We enjoy what we do and want

to keep our customers happy.

Sincerely,

Rusty & Jutta Mayfield
